Dear Brethren,
Freemasons historically celebrates June 24th as the feast of John the Baptist, and on December 27th as the feast of John the Evangelist which roughly marks mid-summer and mid-winter.
One and All, greetings from the East and welcome to the beginning of the second half of this Masonic year. From the previous months we all had been busy with our lodge fundraising activities, charity events, and keeping up with our candidate conferrals. The lodge officers are always on their toes in keeping up with their proficiencies to any future conferrals that our Bro Senior Warden are scheduling. As we begin our final turn and head toward the end of this Masonic year, I want to take this opportunity to thank all the Brethren, lodge officers, and my committee chairmen’s and members for their exemplary work in executing our lodge programs and directives throughout the year, and through this wondrous time in the East.
Last month, our lodge had a great turn out on our first charity event, working closely with the American Red Cross in sponsoring a blood drive to our community. We were able to meet and exceed our objectives in targeting more than 25 donors from this event. The American Red Cross organizers are proud to report that we had a total of 27 Donors, 17 units of blood and up to 51 lives could be saved from this event.
Keeping our boots on the ground, following our charity event we set off with another successful Taco Fest fundraising event held at our lodge. Headed by Bro. Raphael Fajardo, our fundraising, and supply committees collaboratively engaged in this event and had a successful turn out. A portion of the proceeds to this event will be awarded to the Chino Valley Unified School District HOPE program.
This Friday, before our Stated Meeting, we will be awarding portions of our proceeds from our past fund-raising activities.
(i.e Charity Golf Tournament, and May Taco Fest) to our fund-raising recipients. Starting with our District DeMolays, and Jobs Daughters, and lastly to the Chino Valley Unified School District HOPE Program. We will be serving dinner to commemorate our guests this evening starting at 6pm, then awarding to our recipients at 7pm, followed by our monthly stated meeting at 7:30pm.
June is also a month of Father’s. I would like to greet everyone a very Happy Father’s Day to all the Brethren. Take the time to reflect upon your family most especially to our kids.
Reminding the incoming officers to start polishing your proficiencies for the incoming Masonic year. Surely, we will be having a staggered conferral of Initiations, Passing, and Raising of candidates in the coming months in preparation for your incoming officer’s ritual proficiencies.
Lastly, our lodge just came back from our camping trip at Silverwood Lake this past weekend. I would like to acknowledge the commitment of our Master’s Supply Committee Chairman Bro. Robert Ofo-ob, and those who assisted behind the scenes. I hope that everyone had a great time on our trip.
June is expected to be an outstanding period of reopening, revitalization, and rejoicing for all of us, not only masonicaly but especially in our personal lives. I hope you will be joining us in all gatherings in this and the future months.
Please take due notice.

May the Blessing of Heaven rest upon us and all regular Masons. May brotherly love prevail, and every moral and social virtue cement us.
The Sun, the Moon and the Master
Have you any Lights in your Lodge?
- Yes, three.
- What do they represent?
- Sun, Moon, and Master Mason.
- These Lights are three large Candles placed on high Candlesticks. Q. Why so?
- Sun to rule the Day, Moon the Night, and Master Mason his Lodge.
Through the years, these references have puzzled Masons. Why do these three candles represent the sun, moon, and Master Mason? In some places, the ritual has been changed so the third candle represents the master of the lodge—a concession to the fact that in the past, lodges had only two degrees, and the Master Mason was the presiding officer of the lodge. These candles were originally located near the master and warden’s stations in the east, west, and south. But over time, they migrated to the altar so they would illuminate the holy book and square and compass—the so-called greater lights—that lay upon it. The candles, then, became the lesser lights.
Today, no lodge is complete without both the greater and lesser lights. Early Masonic scholars noted the cosmic regularity of the sun and moon and expected the lodge to be governed by the master with equal consistency. Thus, Masons are governed during the day by the sun, at night by the moon, and in lodge by the master.
Source: California Freemason Good evening brethren,
I Hope this message finds you in good health. CVML 427 had it’s annual camping this weekend and owing to our GAOTU, everyone have reached their respective homes safely. Kudos to our our organizers most especially to Brother Robert Ofo-ob under the tutelage of our Worshipful Master John Earl Kiley and of course to each and everyone who have in their own free will and accord, contributed in their own special way to the success of this event.
Going back, the last OSI saw our lodge taking charge of the 2nd section of the 3rd degree which was the topic for that month and in the words of Worshipful Herbert Pompey, who was the substitute inspector for that night, our lodge’s performance was exemplary. This, if I may add, is a result of good companionship, of dedication and practice.
Reminders, reminders again brethren to those who are moving up to get hot on their respective proficiencies and also to candidates who have not done their returns to keep on going. Let us not be lost in our tracks but instead keep inching forward. Suitable assistance is around the corner if need be.
See you all in the lodge.
Fraternally,
Bro. Anthony Wesley Baguiwet
Senior Warden
Greetings Brethren!! It was on this month when the first Grand Lodge was formed on 24 June 1717 the feast day of St John the Baptist roughly marking the mid summer. The south side would like to recap on the following events for the month of May:
1.Our stated meeting had a meal of healthy veggie “pinakbet” and mongo with pork knuckles. A meal to feast after a hard day’s labor before the meeting.
2.Our successful blood drive event with the American Red Cross was able to capture more than the expected blood donors. Snacks were provided to donors and a random lunch of grilled pork and hot beef soup was served to the volunteers and red cross staff members. Also, a delicious Filipino style spaghetti was bestowed to us by sister Alpine Kiley that day.
3.As host for the Officers School of Instruction (OSI), our very own Chino CVML 427 officers executed a portion of the ritual of the third degree with grace and passion. Dinner was served with pancit (rice noodles with vegetables), beef/pork lumpia (egg roll), chicken tinola (stew/soup), beef broccoli and lastly cheese burgers ensuring that our guests had a choice of food.
4.This month’s nourishments would not have been possible if it were not for the efforts of our brethren R.J. Peneverde and Warren Abad along with Lauro Adriano and Robert Ofo-ob. Lastly, to all brethren who have
From the SOUTH shown pride and respect to our very own galley for the month of May. Thank you to those who help out clean and tidy up, your efforts are not unnoticed, keeping the south side squared away.
Fraternally,
Bro. Paul Hank Kiley
Junior Warden
FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK
I would like to post a beautiful poem from an unnamed Author. This reminds us Masons of our obligations, duties and responsibilities and to emphasize the importance of Masonic Education and gaining more light in our Masonic journey.
It was his dream to become a Mason
Though he wasn’t sure quite why.
So he made an application,
Then waited for months for a reply.
No committee came to pay a call
To meet him and his wife,
No invitation to the Mason’s Hall;
Nor offer of Advice.
Finally, a postcard came in the mail,
Said “Come Monday night at six,
And bring us twenty dollars,
If you want to see our tricks.”
He made the solitary journey,
And entered by the door.
But not one hand was offered,
As he slowly crossed the floor.
They fed him with beans and hot dogs,
And piece of apple pie,
Then led him to a little room,
With no explanations why.
The work was done with care and skill,
No one could argue that,
But, the candidate was forgotten,
As they patted themselves on the back.
He came to the Lodge Hall two more times,
And was raised to the third degree.
That was the last they saw him,
What could the trouble be.
They scratched their heads and wondered,
As again they cried and moaned.
“Our time has been wasted !”
“We should have stayed at home.”
It seems to me that they’ve missed the point,
But they need to understand.
It’s not just how well you do the work,
It’s how you treat the man.
Because you can only be a MASON,
When you’re a Mason in your Heart.
And along with his jacket seams,
They had burst his dream apart.
So, if you get an application,
Please call on the man at once.
Invite him and his family,
To tour your hall and share some lunch.
Answer all his questions,
Let him share your pride.
A Mason’s work is an honest work;
That’s not a secret to hide.
And when it’s time to present him,
With the gift of a degree;
Remember, genuine friendship is,
The true gift of Masonry.
Pick him up and take him home,
Isn’t he worth the trip?
No candidate should come alone,
Please don’t ignore this tip.
All should rush to greet him,
As he enters by your door.
Extend your hand in friendship,
That’s what Mason’s grip is for.
And remember your obligation,
As you lead him to the gate.
It’s up to you to guide him through,
Not to hurt or humiliate.
Now armed with proper instruction,
Masonry’s door will open wide.
Thanks to you, his best example,
Of what a Mason should be inside.
And . . . thank him sincerely for coming,
Invite him back to his new home.
For a Brother will not be a Brother,
If he feels unwelcome and alone. . . .!
Fraternally,
Eric G. Calixto, PM
Secretary
