FROM THE EAST

Greetings Brethren,

As we start the 2024 ensuing year with glad tidings, I would like to thank the officers and Brethren who have given me their trust and confidence. Again it is an honor and pleasure to be installed as the 108th master of this lodge. With harmony, we will make great progress in achieving our goal of enlightenment, brotherly love and affection.

As I before mentioned, our goal this year is to continue with fundraisers that we saw viable, partnered with charity events which serves as the intended recipients and purpose of these events. Through the leadership of our committees, other additional events may arise which will be later on announced in future communications. As Chino Valley Masonic Lodge and many of it’s Brethren have been part of this city we will strive to continue to serve the community to the best of our abilities.

Over the recent years our lodge has seen an influx of petitioners. I therefore call on the Brethren, I encourage everyone to take part in our degrees, let those who are knowledgeable to teach those who are willing to learn, let us all join hands in guiding those who desire admission.

Lastly, let me repeat those five simple things our past Worshipful Master asked of us. These are simple but essential to Chino Valley Masonic Lodge’s existence and to each and everyone’s Masonic growth. Again they are as follows:
1) Come to Lodge more often. Be it for our monthly stated meetings, conferring of degrees, and lodge charity and fellowship events.
2) Keep your eyes and ears peeled for any opportunities where we could reasonably make an impact for good and bring it to our attention.
3) Always contact another brother; we all look out for each other, and as I had mentioned before, it is all about the brother to your left and to your right. This strengthens all our bonds together.
4) Help where you can. We all have different skills, wisdom, and strengths. i.e If you find yourself a ritualist, and would like to learn more in doing floor works, I want you to get with our Senior Warden so he could direct you accordingly, so we all could participate in any lodge events.
5) Stay connected with the lodge. Keep us informed if you get sick. In need or wanting help, major life-cycle event, any ideas you want us to work on, or anything that you would wish to discuss. No matter what it is, I am confident that I have the right ammunition for that. Helping is not a burden-but a privilege. Looking forward to work with you all this year.

Fraternally,
Anthony Wesley Baguiwet
Master

FROM THE WEST

Greetings Brethren,

I hope all is well after the holidays as we start a new year. As I continue my travel to the east, I have been slowly getting to know everyone as much as possible. The past year, I have been blessed to have worked with most of our brethren and volunteers. We were able to accomplish our tasks and meet our goals, and I have you all to thank for that. I’m deeply grateful for the time you sacrificed away from your family, your efforts to work around your employment or business schedule, and your financial contributions that made this all happen. This year, I look forward to further strengthening our relationships to help build and grow Chino Valley 427 together under WM Anthony Wesley Baguiwet.

As Senior Warden, I have an open door policy and I encourage all brothers not to hesitate to approach me for any matter. If you are interested in getting involved in a committee or any ritual, I am here to listen and accommodate. Eligible brothers who have been hesitant or distracted for any reason on their travels to the east, I leave you with the words of a wise man: “Be not afraid of growing slowly, only of staying still.” Our lodge can only be defined by how much we all contribute and work together.

More power to all,

Paul Henry L. Kiley CVML 427, SW

FROM THE SOUTH

…Becoming a Mason, Becoming a Better Man.

We often read this online or uttered from a conversation with a Brother, but what does it really mean to be a Mason and becoming a Better Man?

Let me share my thoughts on this as your newly installed Junior Warden for CVML #427 for the ensuing Masonic year.

But first, let me look back at the time when I first entered a Masonic Lodge. It was August of 2018 when I asked a very good friend if I could join their meetings. After several inquiries and because of my insistence, he finally agreed to bring me to their Lodge, which is my Mother Lodge today. The introduction was brief, jumpstarting my journey to be a Freemason.

I started with this brief narration of the beginning of my Mason life because it marked a milestone—when I decided to take this path in pursuit of virtues of Fortitude, Prudence, Temperance, and Justice. It was a turning point that I will always look back to with gratitude and pride, with determination and inspired hope.

Since then, my life has been enriched with the gift of friendships, brotherly love and virtues. Wisdom is fortified with lessons shared by brothers in a setting where divisions of religion and politics are gently set aside. All these have added to my growth, to my pursuit of becoming a better man.

There are three lessons that stand out for me in this quest of becoming a better man: first, it begins with oneself; second, it is to be shared with others; and third, it is to grow and multiply. And for this to happen, it should be intentional. It involves setting goals, making deliberate plans, and buckling down to action.

We can apply this both in our personal and collective growth.

For our Lodge, let us set goals to learn, to share, and to multiply life lessons in abundant measure. Let us begin with the basics — of learning new skills, imparting our knowledge, sharing experiences.

Let us teach the newer Brothers rituals and floor works, what to wear to a Lodge and the importance of good suit; how to behave in public, how to make the best use of technology and emerging media; and many more.

Teaching is not all talk. Teaching is action. We have to model it ourselves.

Being a mentor to others is a huge task with a huge impact.

And each one of us has something to contribute, to offer, to impart.

Let us make the most of this new year and start with a stronger resolve to become a better version of ourselves.

Becoming a better man is not a one-time deal, but a continuing process of growth, learning, sharing, multiplying — not just for ourselves but for our family, lodge, community and Freemasonry as a whole.

Thank you all for making our 108th Installation of Officers a success. Special Mention to our PROSPECTS chaired by Bro. Ace Daway and Bro. Jilly Sacramento

I greet everyone A Happy New Year and May our Lodge be Prosperous in the coming Years.

Remembering what Chino Valley Lodge 427 was several years ago, way back on the first stated meeting I attended with rather unpleasant experience; 7 or 8 Brethren were in attendance, some wearing shorts, Jeans and Tees, proficiencies of some of the sitting officers were unquestionably terrible, I doing some prompting, this aroused my instinct of my moral obligation as a Mason that the Lodge needs help. Having no Masonic activity for over a year at the time since moving to the US, I was awaken of my being a Mason. Thus, when the then Worshipful Morel Callueng asked me to “Rap the Gavel of the Oriental Chair”, I didn’t think twice and was ready to face challenges and become an inspiring instrument of excellence to the Brethren of Chino Valley Lodge 427 as well for personal growth in my Masonic Journey. However, being new to a different Masonic Jurisdiction, I requested the Position in the West instead so I could observe and plan out strategies on what needs to be done to strengthen the Lodge. The rest is History.

Chino Valley Lodge 427 has Gone a Long Way to become the most vibrant Lodge in the District and maybe in the Region and probably the Jurisdiction of the GLC. What become of Chino Valley Lodge 427 is a testament that the Tenets of Freemasonry are observed by the Brethren of the Lodge, though we may differ in opinions and mindset and disagree in our discussions during our meetings.

And as we start the new year, we look back at the plans we set and the accompanying accomplishments we undertook. It is very interesting to note that all indicators in the just concluded Masonic Year show above 100% accomplishments that is beyond our expectations considering our not so healthy financial situation. Our commendations to the Leadership of Worshipful John Kiley.

We again set plans and programs for the ensuing year and we look forward to another fruitful year ahead, thus we need the cooperation of all officers and members for all our Lodge endeavors. We also start growing with new perspectives as we diversify to cope up with current conditions and circumstances.

Meanwhile, the Secretary and Tyler will be installed during the next stated meeting, the Secretary being the Installing Officer and the Tyler was out of the Country at the time.

It was a well-attended Installation Ceremony. The ceremony was very solemn, the food was great, we had very entertaining presentations and the audience was very participative of the activities, and everybody enjoyed the festivities.

I was amazed by the enormous accolades We received from our Guests and Visitors congratulating the Very Proficient and Passionate delivery of the Installation Ceremonies as Installing Officer and the equally Very Proficient and Passionate Master of Ceremonies Worshipful John Kiley. Public Installation is the only activity of Masons that is open to the public, thus it is my guiding principle that we must impress the public of the goodness of Masonry thru the Installation ceremonies to dispel the negative impression on Masonry. My proficiency inspiration draws back from the Good Old Days in the “Dap-ay (Dap-ay is a place where old folks, young men and youth gather together where the old folks teach the young men and youth of their life experiences, positive virtues, dos and don’ts of life, and other positive values. This is a system of informal education located in the Western part of Mountain Province, Philippines.) when old folks say the prayer, they say the prayer verbatim and these prayers are passed on from generation to generation by word of mouth only. The old folks never touched school but their delivery of every prayer is very spontaneous without staggering a bit.

I am always reminded of one of the teachings of Dap-ay Old Folks; Continuously Improving Yourself and Respect for Every Person Especially the Elderly. This has been my guiding principle to excel in all that I do. I do not compete with anybody but to myself.
