Dear Brethren,
April has come and gone, yet May is the month of flowers, when the showers of spring bring us growth. And likewise, so does Chino Valley Lodge #427. We continue to grow in membership at a steady pace. But more importantly, we are growing and blossoming in our personal and masonic lives as well. To continue to search and grow is what we all must do. How that is done is up to you and it is your task to find the right path which will help you grow in your own personal lives.
First, I would like to congratulate our newly Initiated Brother Holland Seth Bullard, and Brother Paul Klinefelter to the Fellowcraft Degree. I look forward in seeing you more often in our lodge activities. Likewise, to our FC Bro. Perry Ross Yodong who exceptionally delivered his Fellowcraft long form proficiency, and to his mentor, and examiner Bro. Robert Ofo-ob Jr.
Last April, we held our first, major golf charity fundraising event that was held at Whispering Lakes Golf Course in Ontario. The proceeds to this fundraising event will fund our upcoming May, and August Blood Drives. A portion of the golf proceeds will also be donated to our District Masonic Youth Orders (DeMolay and Jobs Daughters). Moreover, we were also successful on our Cinco De Mayo Taco Fest that was recently held last May 6th. A portion of the proceeds of this Taco Fest will be awarded to the Chino Valley Unified School District-HOPE Program. I will coordinate, and invite our District DeMolay, Master Councilor, Jobs Daughters, Honored Queen, and a representative from the HOPE Program on our June stated meeting dinner, so we as a lodge, will have the opportunity to meet them personally and award the proceeds individually.
The following day after our Stated Meeting this May, we kick off to our first Charity Event this year, working closely together with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive at our lodge. Blood drives bring vital assistance to hospital patients in need of surgery, cancer treatment and transfusion for blood loss from traumatic injuries. If you think you are healthy enough to donate blood, I urge everyone to support our cause on May 13th 2023.
Our lodge will also be hosting our district OSI this May, the Officers will be needing much participation, as our lodge will be exemplifying the 2nd Section of the Master Mason Degree. Please coordinate with our Bro. Senior Warden for more info. Moreover, the memorial service of the late MW David will be held on May 28th at Ontario Lodge.
I would like to acknowledge the commendable performance of our Fundraising and, Sport Committee Chairman, and Members, for their excellent planning, and coordination that made all our fundraising events very successful. Moreover, to Bro. Raphael Fajardo who spearheaded our Taco Fest, and to everyone in attendance that day. Lastly, to everyone that donated their time during our backyard clean up. Thank you all so much, all your hard work and dedication have never gone unnoticed.
Please Take Due Notice:
The dispensation to change the date of our June Stated Meeting was formally granted and approved by our District Inspector, Worshipful Rick Geyer. Chino Valley Lodge 427 June Stated Meeting will now be on Friday, June 16th 2023. This is to accommodate our lodge Camping Weekend to be held at Silverwood Campground on June 9th to 11th 2023. Point of Contact to our camping event is our Supply Committee Chairman, Bro Robert Ofo-ob Jr.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
John Ehrlich Kiley

May the Blessing of Heaven rest upon us and all regular Masons. May brotherly love prevail, and every moral and social virtue cement us.
Performance as Progress
One of the primary functions of ritual is to redefine personal and social identity and move individuals from one status to another: boy to man, single to married, childless to parent, life to death, and so on. Left to follow their natural course, these transitions often become murky, awkward, and protracted. Many life transitions come with certain privileges and responsibilities, but without a ritual that clearly bestows a new status, you feel unsure of when to assume the new role. When you simply slide from one stage of your life into another, you can end up feeling between worlds—not quite one thing but not quite another. This fuzzy state creates a kind of limbo often marked by a lack of motivation and direction. Since you don’t know where you are on the map, you don’t know which way to start heading. Rituals provide an outward manifestation of an inner change, and in so doing help make life’s transitions and transformations more tangible and psychologically resonant. They do so in a variety of ways. (Source: California Freemason Magazine Spring 2023 issue)
Good Day brethren.
Time goes by so fast we are halfway through the year 2023. As your Senior Warden, Reviewing all candidates’ progress toward advancement is on my checklist. In the past couple of months, we have conferred a couple of brothers, witnessed proficiency returns one after the other. On all these occasions, a number brethren have done their part and have stepped up in their roles or have performed in different other capacities most specially in mentoring and examining candidates as well. Special mention to Brother Robert Ofo-ob for excellent candidate mentoring and doing a fine job as examiner. All these being said, I continue to remind candidates of their assignments, endeavor to put more effort and aim for the long versions. Also, I encourage those eligible to take part and impart to others the good morals of Freemasonry through our rituals.
Congratulations to Brother Paul Klinefelter on being passed to the Fellowcraft Degree and to Brother Holland Bollard to Entered Apprentice Degree. Keep up the good work!
Note: A continuation of the above article can be found in the mentioned magazine. Find time to enjoy these beautiful and meaningful articles.
Fraternally,

Greetings Brethren!!!
For the month of May, I would like to acknowledge those who donated kitchen utensils to the Lodge:
Bro Ross Reyes for the kitchen knives and Bro Paul Klinefelter for the percolator. Also, to brethren’s who made donations and replaced new kitchen rags and resupplied disposable bowls and To Go boxes, coffee, creamer, sodas and bottled water. We appreciate your care and concern for they have been and will be greatly used. We continue to need more of these in the coming months to include spoons and forks.
I would also like to thank the following for their contributions on past events:
- To Bro. RJ Penaverde on his conferral dinner on March 1, that was prepared by himself and Bro. Jilly Sacramento from a live goat to a sumptuous meal.
- Ferdinand Sicam for donating roasted chicken on our March 10 stated meeting, an addition to our pork sisig and mixed vegetable chop seuy that was served for dinner.
- To the Annual Golf Fundraiser Committee who did an awesome job. Kudos to those who picked up the food from “Bens Catering” and those who prepared the food from scratch, particularly the goat: They are Bro. Robert Ofo-ob with Bro. Romeo Macam and our volunteers Warren Abad Lauro Adriano and Renato Macam.
- On the successful Spring clean-up event: We had a good workout, and a lot of food was served, everyone contributed from arozcaldo, pork afritada, freshly fried tilapia, side dishes, veggie/meat wraps, salad, pastries and coffee cake. Volunteers Holland Bullard and Warren Abad made an impact that day.
- To Bro Paul Klinefelter on his conferral dinner on May 2: He ordered dinner from our very own Brethren entrepreneurs of “Tony’s Barbecue” at Corona. And again, to Warren Abad our volunteer working in the kitchen.
And lastly, to other brethren’s who help open and clean up the lodge and for refilling our potable water gallons for coffee, your dedication and service to the lodge has not come unnoticed.
Lastly, a reminder again that you are all welcome to share any dish you want to bring on our stated meetings and if that is not possible our humongous donation tub awaits you outside the Lodge room after every meeting, a supplement to put smiles on our brethren’s who will attend the following meetings to come.
Please coordinate with our stewards Bro Ferdinand Sicam and Bro. Ranier Hizon or me. Also any donation to subsidize our meal budget is also appreciated.
South side, Always Ready!!
Fraternally,
Paul Henry L. Kiley
Junior Warden
May is Mental Health Month and having good mental health helps us face adversities and thrive even in difficult times. Exercising our Psychological well-being leads us to better health, improved quality of life and longevity. Fortunately for us Masons, we do lots of mental exercises and actions in the memory works of our rituals and proficiencies. This maintains our healthy minds.
As we gain more light in our journey by reading our cipher, memorizing our rituals and proficiencies will maintain a balance in our mental equilibrium for better mental health. This prepares officers and members in their journey to the East and creates cohesive rituals team. This enhances our knowledge and understanding on the deeper meaning of Masonry and its mysteries. Mind exercises also enhance our positive outlook in life that makes us happy and connected.
Thus, I encourage not only the officers but the members as well to continue with our mind exercises by perfecting the monitor becoming better and better and bring our Lodge to greater achievements. Let us make the whole year round and not only the month of May as Mental Health period and maintain a very good and healthy mind.
Mother’s Day is also in the month of May. May we continue pouring out unconditional love to our mothers and mothers of our children. Salute to all mothers.
